I live in the beautiful Adirondack mountains of New York. However, being surrounded by mountains, does have the drawback of blocking the sun. It takes special effort of driving somewhere to watch the sunrise or sunset. My wife and I go on vacation we often will go to the beach and make it a priority to simply go and set For the last hour of the day and watch it fade. Some of my most magical times have occurred in that window. I’ve often wondered what impact it would happen in my life if I made it a priority to stop every day and quietly take in the sunset. You’re writing stirred that wondering within me again today. Thank you.

Beautiful reflections on the magic of sunsets, Matthew. I often feel that sadness for how unbothered, or rather distracted we are from witnessing the beauty that is available to us each day. I've shared them same thought while out walking on a beautiful evening and seeing how many people are indoors watching TV.

This post brings to mind a sunset I watched while flying back home from Canada's West Coast. As the flight path arched over the mountains at sunset, as the light faded farther into the horizon and a blue dusk settled in, I was moved by feelings of impermanence.
